We're about to guide you through the process of applying for DBP's approval so Malaysians can witness the realm of your advertisement.

Before You Begin...

Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka (DBP) submissions for billboards demand a strategic blend of linguistic precision and visual appeal. Begin by understanding DBP guidelines, ensuring linguistic accuracy and cultural sensitivity. Here are the things you need to understand before applying for DBP approval:

  • Condense your message to its essence

  • Focus on simplicity and clarity

  • Incorporate impactful visuals

  • Emphasise key information

  • Avoid clutters

  • Review and revise regularly

  • Ads must contain Malay words

This holistic approach ensures your DBP submissions for billboards effectively communicate your message while meeting the language and cultural standards set by DBP.

How To Apply

Step 1: Visit the Dewan Bahasa Pustaka (DBP) website to create an account, either for individual or corporate use.

Step 2: As soon as you have created an account. Click on “register ads” at the top of your dashboard, after logging into your account. Make sure you activate your account before you log-in.

Step 3: Fill up all of your advertisement’s fields, and most importantly, make sure you have selected the right advertisement type. Since we are discussing making submissions for billboards, outdoor billboards would be our advertisement type.

Step 4: After that, you are required to fill in your company's SSM information or Trade mark number (if you have one) as proof that your business is authorised by Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia.

Step 5: Make sure the location is selected by the respective location's Majlis Bandaraya for the Local Authority Choice (PBT) for Advertisement Installation Locations. The rate for one PBT is RM30. You may select more than one if you need to advertise at multiple locations.

Step 6: Finally, upload your ad images or contents as attachments in jpg or gif file formats, with a maximum file size of 4 MB. When finished, click submit to continue with the payment process.

Step 7: Wait for the approval process, which usually takes about 3 - 5 business days. You will be notified via the registered email once your submission has been approved. You are ready to advertise outdoors once you log into your account and download your approval certificate from your dashboard.
